Getting to know the young person comes first.
Sport 2 Aspire is an alternative provision for young people who are finding school difficult. We work alongside schools and families to offer support shaped around each young person’s needs, interests and next steps.
Through sport, practical activities and time with a trusted mentor, we help young people feel understood, experience success and take manageable steps forward.

WHAT A SESSION CAN LOOK LIKE
A starting point that works for them.
There is no single session plan that suits everyone. The activity gives us a way to build a relationship and work towards individual goals.
Settle in and check in
Time to connect with their mentor, share how they are feeling and agree a manageable starting point.
Take part in something meaningful
A sport they enjoy, a gym session, a practical activity or time exploring the grounds. Interests help guide the session.
Build skills along the way
Practise communication, cooperation, patience and managing challenges through shared experiences and conversation.
Recognise progress
Reflect on successes, notice what helped and think about the next achievable step.
WHY SPORT?
An activity can open up a conversation.
Being active alongside a mentor can ease the pressure of talking face to face. It creates opportunities to build trust, try something new and feel proud of progress.
Young people can start at their own pace. Their sporting ability is never the measure of their potential.
Confidence
Small, achievable successes that help young people recognise their strengths.
Connection
Shared interests and experiences that help build positive relationships.
Emotional wellbeing
Support to recognise feelings, manage frustration and ask for help.
Skills for life
Communication, teamwork and problem solving they can use beyond a session.
HOW WE WORK
Relationships, routine and reassurance.
Individual support
We take time to understand each young person and adapt activities, expectations and pace around their needs.
A consistent approach
Clear expectations and supportive routines help young people understand their day and feel more settled.
Working together
We work with schools, families and other professionals to plan meaningful support around each placement.
Our approach draws on PACE
Playfulness · Acceptance · Curiosity · Empathy
OUR EVERYDAY VALUES
TREDS: skills for sport, skills for life.
LOOKING AHEAD
Progress that reaches beyond our sessions.
We work towards greater confidence, positive relationships, improved routines and renewed engagement with learning.
Each young person’s next step will be different. It may involve returning to school, preparing for a new placement or developing the life skills and independence they need as they grow towards adulthood.
